With my fiancee recovering from surgery, I’ve had quite a bit of time to read up on what I’ve missed this week. Without any delay, here’s a few articles I found interesting this week.
Everything should return to normal next week. I’ll see you all in the market Monday!
Markets are up nicely this morning with the Dow jumping a little over 100 points and the S&P bouncing off the 1420 support line. Please remember that today is Black Friday. Most investors are still at home with family and friends and as a result volume is extremely thin. When volume is as thin as it has been so far, it’s much easier to move the market one way or another. If need be, take small profits throughout the day but expect the volatility we’ve seen the past month to continue Monday once everyone’s digested their Thanksgiving meals and return to work. Remember to watch the 1420 support line for the S&P. If the markets can’t hold that level, I would expect that the market could enter a bear cycle. From the Option Addict who went through the bear cycle a few years ago, bear cycles are much more difficult to trade in since quite a bit more trading is done on emotion and not on technicals or fundamentals. Remember… bull markets make people lucky, but bear markets make people pay. Have a great weekend!
I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving is as great as mine. Enjoy the long holiday and for those of you braving Black Friday, I respect you!
Playing doctor and being one are two completely different things! Surgery for my fiancee went well and we’re back home resting. I should have some time to catch up with the market action but will most likely take the rest of the week off from trading. My TOS account is now fully funded and accessible. I’ve been overly pleased with TOS and will be doing a full review on them in the coming weeks once I have a handle on their real account trading (as compared to their paper money trading accounts). Stay safe tomorrow. The weakness in the market appears to be continuing.
2006 was a pretty good year. My fiancee and I became engaged, we moved to a new apartment, and overall life was good. 2007 started alright until a few months ago. If you recall, we had a family emergency where we needed to drive to North Carolina for the weekend. Seems as if once one thing happens, life piles on everything else at once.
My fiancee will be undergoing emergency gall bladder removal surgery tomorrow morning. We’ve been in the hospital for about 24 hours now running tests and medication. I do apologize for the lack of posts the past couple of days but not even the market can distract me from this. I’ll post an update tomorrow morning once everything is taken care of. Until then, be safe this week. Historically, the Monday before Thanksgiving is a day of weakness while the rest of the week is a bit more bullish. My Think or Swim account is now funded so hopefully after the holidays I’ll be able to share my experiences with the new software platform. It’s exciting having access to spreads, butterflies, straddles, iron condors, etc. I’ll also continue the ETF series soon I promise!
Be careful tomorrow. It’s been a wild ride the past few weeks!
